Unicoi Child Care Center

Certified by the State of Tennessee, the Unicoi Child Care Center is licensed to accommodate 80 children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Eight teachers provide developmentally appropriate learning programs designed to anticipate the pre-school child’s entrance into Kindergarten. An afterschool program is also available for older children. In cooperation with educators from East Tennessee State University, a special learning intervention program is also part of the available curriculum. The two-level facility also features an outdoor playground. A morning and afternoon snack and a hot lunch are provided. Before she fulfilled her life-long goal of establishing a quality child care center, owner Sandra Gouge worked for 8 years at the Johnson City Press newspaper in Johnson City, Tennessee.
