Aggregate USA

This limestone rock quarry, first established in Unicoi County in the 1970s, was purchased by Alabama-based Aggregate USA in 2007. The 250-acre site in northern Unicoi quarries limestone for markets in East Tennessee which is used as composite material for the creation of block, concrete and asphalt used primarily in the construction and maintenance of interstate roadways. On average, the Aggregate USA quarry in Unicoi produces 1800 to 1900 tons of limestone per day. In addition to contract sales, Aggregate USA / Unicoi also handle individual orders. The turquoise blue water at the base of the 200-ft. deep quarry pit is a result of the natural properties of the limestone beneath it.
