About us

Town of Unicoi

The Town of Unicoi, Tennessee was incorporated in 1994 to serve our population of 3,500 citizens. We are located in the northeast corner of Tennessee in beautiful Buffalo Valley, between Buffalo Mountain and the Unaka Mountains both of which are part of the Appalachian chain. The Town of Unicoi is located at the northern end of Unicoi County, which borders North Carolina, and is known as the "Valley Beautiful".

Unicoi is a friendly community offering southern charm and hospitality that has attracted many families and retirees from other states to settle in the area. Our mountains and streams offer the finest in scenery, sport fishing, hiking, horseback riding, camping, NASCAR auto racing, golf and rafting. The Town of Unicoi is conveniently located along scenic Interstate 26 which extends from Johnson City, Tennessee, down the valley and over the mountains to Asheville, North Carolina. Three exits on the interstate provide easy access to all parts of the town.
